27: Disney World Pricing and Promotions

Did you know that Disney World has different room prices for different times of year? n episode 27,  I break down how the pricing works, when promotions generally come out, and how to take advantage of them.

Disney has five different pricing levels based on how busy the Parks have traditionally been:

  • Rates are lowest in January, February on dates that aren't holidays or a marathon
  • Next is fall – September, October and November on dates that aren't holidays or a marathon
  • Rates increase on all holidays and over race weekends
  • Rates increase during times kids have off school
  • Rates increase over Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

My advice generally is to book at least 6 months in advance so you have the best shot at getting your preferred dining reservations.
Promotions are released 3 – 5 months in advance. As of today,  promotions cover through June 10, 2018.

Disney Visa cardholders have access to additional promotions plus guests can book a Bounce Back offer during their stay.

26: Disney World Transportation

One of the Perks of staying at a Disney World resort is free transportation, but how does it work? How do you get from the airport to the resort and the resort to the theme parks?

Episode 26 breaks down Disney’s Magical Express and how to move between your resort, the theme parks, Disney Springs and other resorts. Hint: It takes a lot longer than you’d think.

For your transportation between the airport and Disney World resort, a transfer called Disney's Magical Express is included. It's located in terminal B on Level 1. Be sure to wear your Magic Bands as you'll need to scan them.  It takes 2 - 3 hours from the time to land until the time you are the resort. You may stop at 3 other resorts before your resort.

On the return, your Disney's Magical Express pick up time with be 4 hours before your flight time as of early 2018. You can check your bags via the Resort Airline Check In desk at your resort if you are flying Alaska, American, JetBlue, Southwest, United or a domestic Delta flight.

For your transportation between the resort and the theme parks, you'll take a bus, boat or Monorail. You should leave 2 hours from your room to the place inside the Park you'd like to be. Service starts 45 minutes before a Park opens and up to 2 hours after the Park closes.

One important note: Boats that run between Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian are not handicap accessible. Scooters are not allowed. Wheelchairs must be folded and the person should be able to go down a step and sit on a bench.

For transportation to/from Disney Springs, there are limited hours. Bus Service from the Disney resorts to Disney Springs begins 45 minutes before opening until 1:00 am. Return service from Disney Springs to the resorts ends at 2:00 am. You cannot take a bus from Disney Springs to a theme park. Buses from the theme parks to Disney Springs starts at 4:00 pm. If you want to go to Disney Springs earlier than that, you can take a bus to Saratoga Springs and walk over or to Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter and take the boat.

Getting from one resort to another is the most difficult task using Disney transportation because you'll have to connect at Disney Springs or a theme park.

If you have any questions or if you are ready to book your Disney vacation, email me or schedule a time to chat.
